Like the storied city in which it was founded, Wagstaff LLP is rich in history and tradition. A firm founded as one young attorney’s vision has grown to not only meet the legal needs of Abilene and West Texas, but throughout the state of Texas and beyond.

In July, 1890, a young Presbyterian college president named John M. Wagstaff moved to Abilene to begin the practice of law. Wagstaff was among the first pioneer lawyers in the young Texas prairie town. Quickly distinguishing himself as a superior trial lawyer in West Texas, he gained statewide recognition from the legal community and was a civic leader for more than half a century.

Today, Wagstaff LLP continues the tradition established over 125 years ago by the pioneering young lawyer - providing clients with superior representation.

Each attorney is committed to helping clients achieve their goals by providing sound advice and creative counsel. The firm aggressively seeks to recruit and retain highly motivated lawyers with exceptional ability, leadership, and talent. The firm seeks lawyers with a background and feeling for West Texas and its people. Recruiting is not limited to Texas to insure the highest caliber of personnel.

Clients receive the benefit of extensive support systems which include advanced technology applications. Wagstaff LLP has a fully trained support staff, a vital ingredient for the delivery of effective and efficient legal services.

Wagstaff LLP’s attorneys hold leadership positions in not only the legal community, but civic affairs as well. Many attorneys throughout the firm’s history have served in state and local government, as well as participating in judiciary, state, and local bar organizations.
